TopQ: Which file formats does Blog support?

    Blog supports these file formats:

    Photos:
    • JPG (This is a common format for photos shot with a digital camera)
    • TIFF
    • GIF
    • PNG
    • BMP
    Videos:
    • 3GPP (This is a common format for videos shot with a cameraphone)
    • MPEG
    • AVI
    • WMV
    • MOV
    • MP4
    Audio:
    • AMR (This is a common format for audio clips recorded on a mobile phone)
    • WAV
    • MP3
    • WMA

Files in any other formats just won't fly.

TopQ: What's the file size limit for uploads on Blog?

The size limit for uploads on Blog is 100MB per file. Files larger than 100MB will not make it to your Blogs, so do check your file size before uploading to avoid disappointment, confusion, and general unhappiness.

TopQ: What's my mobile blogging address?

Your mobile blogging address follows this format:

    username.blogging-key@blog.litefm.com.my

For example, if your username is bob, your default address would look something like this:

    bob.26738273@blog.litefm.com.my

Your mobile blogging address can be found in My Account > Mobile Blogging. Send entries to this address when you're logging entries from your mobile phone or via email.

TopQ: What's the file size limit for entries logged via mobile blogging?

Because mobile blogging involves email/MMS, the acceptable file size is much smaller compared to that of web uploads. The total file size limit for entries logged via mobile blogging is 10MB. Each individual file attached must not exceed 5MB

TopQ: How do I set my profile photo?

To set your profile photo, start by logging a photo (OR, you can opt to use a previously logged photo. All photos on your entries list can be set as your profile photo). Once the photo you wish to use is safely in your entries list, click on the entry title to view it as an individual entry. You will then see a sidebar on the right of the page with a list of Actions. Click on Set as profile photo and confirm. And voila! You'll have yourself a profile photo. Change your profile photo anytime by repeating these steps on another photo of your choice.

TopQ: I can't seem to view the videos and slideshows or hear any of the audio on Blog. Is there something wrong with me?

No, we're sure there's absolutely nothing wrong with you. This is probably happening because you haven't downloaded Flash Player 8. You need Flash Player 8 in order to view and hear videos, slideshows and audio on Blog. Download the player for free now at www.macromedia.com

If you've already downloaded Flash Player 8 and still can't see or hear anything, call for rescue at webmaster@litefm.com.my

TopQ: How do I report pesky bugs?

Blog's new beta is still squeaky at the joints, so you may encounter some pesky little bugs once in a while. When this happens, quietly mutter "Bah humbug!" under your breath, then send us a bug report at webmaster@litefm.com.my and we'll be happy to pounce on it. Here's what we need to know:

    1. Which browser were you using when you encountered the bug? Do note the browser version as well, for instance, "FireFox 1.5.0.3".
    2. A description of the events surrounding the bug - what happened/didn't happen, what were you trying to log, which links did you click?
    3. If something looks odd or out of place, please attach a screenshot of the incriminating evidence. Here's how you can get those screenshots:
      For Windows:
      • Press Alt + Print screen. This should grab the screenshot.
      • Open Paint, then save it and attach it to your email.
      For MAC:
      • Use these nifty shortcut keys: Shift+Command+3 for full screenshots, or Shift+Command+4 to select and crop your screenshot. Your screenshots will be automatically saved to your desktop.
      • Attach the screenshot to your email.
    4. That's all! Reporting bugs help us help you, so here's a big thank you in advance! There's nothing quite as rewarding as the 'you spot, we squash' relationship.

TopQ: How do I tag my entries?

Tags are keywords that serve to describe entries that you log. You can tag photos, videos, and audio to make them easier to sort, find and share in the future. For instance, say you tag an entry 'yellow'. When you're looking for an entry that features something yellow in the future, just click on that tag and you'll get all entries that have been tagged the same way.

There are a bunch of ways to tag your entries on Blog. Click here to find out how!

TopQ: I'd like to switch from my current blogging platform to Blog. Do you have import tools that can make moving all my posts over to Blog feel less like a tedious hair-pulling process?

We love that you're planning to move your stuff over, and my, do we have loads of room for you. We totally understand the constipated feeling of not being able to move your posts over in a painless manner, so we're currently working on an import tool that will eliminate your dread of moving. You won't have to keep those fingers crossed for long!

    TopQ: What are live comments?

Live comments are comments that appear in realtime. If you turn on live comments, you'll be able to see comments for the entry that you're viewing magically appear as others are logging them. To turn on live comments, click on the link by the Comment section (where you're viewing an entry) that says 'Live comments off'.

TopQ: How do I set audio accompaniment for my slideshows? I love those all-entertaining slideshows, and I want one too.

It's so easy, you wouldn't believe it. Just add an audio track into an album of photos that you would like to be displayed as a slideshow, and poof! The audio track will play automatically when you launch your slideshow. Do note that even if you have more than one audio track in your album, only the first track on the list will be played.

TopQ: What are Smart Albums and just how smart are they?

Smart Albums are albums that unquestioningly listen to you. Right now, you can tell your Smart Albums to collect entries based on tags. We call these tags Smart Album Tags. With Smart Album Tags, all entries that share any of the specified tags will automatically be organized into a related album. This way, you can add entries into albums as you are tagging them.

To specify your Smart Album Tags, go to Albums > Create. Click on 'Make this a Smart Album' and enter your tags in the field provided. To add entries to this Smart Album, tag your entries according to the Smart Album Tag you specified. All existing entries already tagged with any of the Smart Album Tags you specified will automatically be added to the album.

A Smart Album basically pulls all entries that share a similar tag and places them into an album. To remove an entry from a Smart Album, just remove the Smart Album Tag from that entry. (Note: You will not find an option to remove entries from a Smart Album in your Entries List/View Album dropdown menu. That option exists for standard albums only)

Stay tuned for our ongoing developments in album intelligence!

TopQ: I uploaded some entries a while ago, but they did not appear in my Blogs. What am I to do?

Yeah, we hate when that happens too. If your entries are missing in action, it helps to carry out a quick investigation on your Upload Monitor.

All entries that you log (via any method, including mobile blogging) can be tracked on your Upload Monitor. Your Upload Monitor is a great way to tell if Blog has actually received your entries and are processing them. If you log many entries at once, the files are usually queued for processing. Larger files take longer to process, and in turn take longer to appear on your Entries list. If your files are stuck or running into errors, it will be indicated there. If your Upload monitor points out a problem, or if you don't see your file progress listed there 30 minutes after logging, email us with the details at webmaster@litefm.com.my. Due to the unpredictable volatility of email and MMS services, entries logged via mobile blogging risk being lost in the void now and then.

Another important point to look into when you experience hiccups is your file size. If your entries exceed the maximum file size (that's 100MB per file for uploads and 10MB per email/MMS for mobile blogging) they definitely won't make the journey to your Blogs. You'll just have to resize them and try again!

TopQ: I downloaded an audio track from my friend's Blogs recently, but the track is incomplete. Why is that? The track was complete and played fine on my friend's Blogs.

Oh that's a bummer! This hiccup is usually caused by an interruption in the connection while the download is under way. Your ISP may have timed-out in the middle of the download, thus disrupting the process. Give it another shot! If this unhappy download issue keeps recurring, do email us at webmaster@litefm.com.my and we'll investigate further.

TopQ: I created some default albums the other day and they went nuts – I ended up with more albums than expected and a bunch of replicated entries. What's with the madness?

This madness occurs when default album names that you create contain commas. Commas cause a very specific reaction in album creation – It's very important to remember that when it comes to album names, commas act as separators, and not punctuations. For example, if you create an album called "San Francisco, California" you will end up with two albums – one called "San Francisco" and a second one called "California". If both are set as default albums, your incoming entries will automatically be replicated and placed in both albums. So the moral of the story is, never ever enter commas as part of an album's name. Only use commas to separate names of different albums.

TopQ: Hey, why can't I download the original version of a video/audio that I like?

We're terribly sorry about that! Blog is going through a growth spurt at the moment, which means our servers have been worked to the bone lately. To keep them spiffy for you, our servers are currently being upgraded and primed.

The original videos and audio will not be accessible for the time being. This is to keep our server load a little lighter while improvements are kicking in. You will still be able to download the video/audio in FLV (Flash video) format.

The feature will be up and running again once our servers are done with their superhero makeovers. We'll keep you posted!
